One early morning in 2017, Janet woke up from a night of sleeping on the floor of Rwanda Military Hospital. Her back was in pain, exhausted and frustrated with her mother’s illness and hospitalization. For weeks Janet’s mother had been admitted to hospital without signs of getting better. She had become one of her mother’s primary caregivers in hospital exchanging shifts with her elder sisters who had even more responsibilities in their own lives. 

She thought of seeking out professional help, people she and her sisters could entrust with the care of their mother. Unfortunately, such help did not exist in the Rwanda. Through this experience, she saw a need and an opportunity to provide trusted professional caregivers with nursing experience who would solve this challenge for many families in her situation.
